Hurray! To all of it! Being in the wilds cultivates self-reliance, but also interdependence. You quickly learn how important it is to work with your team and your surroundings and to listen, observe, be mindful, and take decisive action.
Wow, that’s incredible—living so close to nature and in such harmony with it! I’m glad you made it through the challenges, now wiser and more confident. Reading about your experience waking up in the cold reminded me of my time in Mongolia. We’d huddle around a fire in the middle of the tent at night, each in our own sleeping bags. By morning, the fire was long gone, and I’d burrow inside my bag like a mouse, with the air outside feeling so icy, getting up demanded a huge amount of willpower.
Living in tune with nature has its challenges, but there’s a certain magic in adapting to its rhythms—whether it's collecting firewood or enjoying those rare sunny days. Cheers to a season of renewal, longer days, and lots of new possibilities! Thank you for sharing, Sophie.
Also Luke, I have a written interview series where I speak with people who live "a different" lifestyle, it would be lovely to be able to have a chat with another off-gridder! Send me a DM if you're keen!
Oh enjoy! Despite some of the difficulties I really enjoyed it. And to be fair, we went into it "very off grid", we've expanded our system quite a bit now and honestly it's so much nicer

So true, very quickly learnt a whole lot about my environment and the need to work together! Thanks for reading Wendy!
Thank you for sharing, Sophie!! 💙
Having seen/read all cozy things about off-grid winters, it’s actually comforting to know what is reality. And I love the way you embrace it, Sophie.
Yep reality has cozy moments too of course 😀
🥰 I would love to hear about that too-your version of cozy off grid winter. Ideas for next post. 😄
That's a good idea! 🙂

Oh yes we definitely had nights like that too. I'm so grateful the nights are getting warmer now 😊

We are heading into our first off grid winter 🥶 it’s warmish now, but a cold nip has started to join us in the mornings 🙈
