I always appreciate advice about starting small and welcoming the learning curve.
It's also nice to hear someone talk about homesteading without romanticizing it, while still capturing what makes it worthwhile. Jenna's purpose is about connecting with a simpler way of living and being closer to nature than totally living off the land. Totally aligned here.
Thank you for your lovely comment, Neela. As much as Iβd love to float around the garden in a pretty dress with a wicker basket full of eggs, the reality is more like trudging out to the coop at 6am in my wellies and pyjamas! :-)
In my twenties, I lived and was an intern on many small homesteads and farms. Your stories Jenna, bring the beautiful and of course very challenging moments of my experience back to life. Having to exist within the timelines of the plants, animals and environment tested me at times. I remember some days, longing for a day where I just didn't need to go out in the damp cold to check on the chickens, ya know! But, you get through and creating more connection with the land and the seasons is something that has stuck with me. Thanks for sharing both Sophie and Jenna.
Hi Heather, thank you for reading. Your experience on small homesteads and farms sounds interesting. Yes, at times it is testing, but I wouldn't change it! I love going outside every morning to see the hens - they instantly brighten my morning.
Thank you for the opportunity Sophie βΊοΈ
I enjoyed getting to know you a little better! βΊοΈ

I wonder if anyone ever truly does the whole pretty dress with a wicker basket thing... it has to be just for the pictures right?
Thanks Neela π that's exactly why I love Jenna's writing! π

Oh I really want chickens! But yeah, holding off for now because I want to make sure I'm ready for the work and to look after them as best as possible
This is a wonderful series, thank you! And I love that there are so many ways to homestead, no matter where you are in the world.
Thank you Cheryl, so glad you're enjoying it βΊοΈ
