I never hear about the concept before Sophie but absolutely love the idea. I never got disconnected from nature but with my busy life I often forget to admire its beauty and calmness.

I lived in Norway for 5 years and it was probably the time of my life I spend the most in Nature. I truly miss that.

oh Norway, I've never been but I hear it's similar to New Zealand, I bet it's beautiful there!

Agree! Back to nature and "rewilding"!❤️

Yes, to rewilding! (from a preferably-feral scientist).

Love the idea of rewilding ourselves. I live in a much different place than you but find myself lying in my hammock just observing the life around me in my yard. The past version of me would not be pleased to find me doing anything other than working, personal development, or something else “productive.”

Past me was very much the same! Current me finally realizes that if I rest I can actually be more productive later on - it’s all about balance.

I had never heard the concept before of rewilding but, now that I've heard of it, I couldn't agree more regarding the healing power of reconnecting with our animal nature and with actual nature! When I get really stuck in my head, something that really helps me reconnect to my body is a swim in the ocean! I am curious though how did you begin to rewild? You shared that you used to dislike being in nature, and I'm curious what created the change?

That's actually a really good question - you're inspiring me for a next article! in short though, for me the move to New Zealand was quite significant because it meant a big change from how I was before and NZ just lends itself to connecting with nature. After that it came in little baby steps along the way until we moved fully off the grid and I was forced to be outside more - it was a journey that took a while!

Love the way you put rewilding connecting it to our roots. In my case, I can’t have long walks in the woods right now but I want to do it sometime. Till then I’m trying to spot the beauty around me in bits and pieces. And I feel it matters too, what do you think?

Every tiny bit matters! Fully immersing yourself is definitely not the only way, just being outside in a garden or public park or anywhere will do the trick as well - it all matters 😊

You know how I feel about birds Sophie :)

I love how you've described your journey from nature-avoider to nature-lover! It's like you're telling my story too. I used to be that person with headphones always on, rushing through hikes like they were a race :(

Happy October :)

Glad you could relate - let’s not rush through hikes again 😊

I won't - I promise :)

You can't confuse Kererū's flight with anything. They definitely struggle to keep their bodies in the air because of that last berry 😁

One of the biggest gifts of Aotearoa is the love for birds that seems to be unavoidable here.

Yep you can always pick the Kererū 😁

This is what moving to New Zealand from London gifted to me. I had no idea how much I needed it 😊

Same here, but from Belgium! New Zealand does really make it quite easy to connect with nature 🙂
